Description
1852 $50 NGC VF25 U.S. Assay 887 Thous. Gold Slug Medium to deep golden in color with coppery hues in the protected areas, this attractive and large $50 slug is of the "887 Thous" variety. Octagonal fifty dollar "slugs," as they were issued by the San Francisco U.S. Assay Office, are iconic symbols of the California gold rush and dominated West Coast commerce between 1851 and 1854. While the Assay Office slugs were common in commerce during the early 1850s, such pieces were roughly handled and often spent years in circulation. Once the Federal Mint opened in 1854, innumerable Assay Office slugs met their demise in Mint furnaces, in favor of more fungible U.S. gold coins. If you are interested in purchasing this item, don't hesitate to call or send us an email. We encourage you to read all the information provided below pertaining to payment options, contact information, and general policies regarding our eBay offerings. We can be reached by phone at 1-972-746-9193 or by email at polariscoins@yahoo.com if you have any questions regarding the item or our eBay policies. If we can't answer the phone, just leave a message and we'll return your call. If you have to leave a message and you want us to call you back and not mention anything about coins, make sure you let us know in your voice message. Regarding our images: We are not perfect and will always do our best to take images that accurately represent what the item actually looks like in person. If you have a question about the image of the coin, please don't think twice about contacting us about it. Ways to contact us: Phone: Brandon Kelley - 1-972-746-9193 eMail: Brandon Kelley - polariscoins@yahoo.com Phone: Brian Cushing - 1-603-767-7745 eMail: Brian Cushing - bcrarecoins@gmail.com Payment options: Paypal: Send to bcrarecoins@gmail.com (this is just temporary until we set-up our paypal account with a business credit card. This is Brian Cushing's paypal address.) Check: Make payable to: Polaris Numismatics Money Order/Cashier's Check Payment must be made and the funds must be available in the Polaris Numismatics' account in all cases before the numismatic item can be shipped. Certified checks, bank checks, cashier's checks, and money orders usually get 24 hour shipment and payment made with these methods is preferred. Personal/business checks usually take 10 business days to clear. If you pay via personal/business check, it will just take a little longer for payment to clear. I actually prefer checks OVER payment with paypal as I can save some fees but I don't mind you paying with paypal. It's quick, easy, and the funds are usually good. Payment Plans: In special circumstances we allow customers to pay off an item in a manner that reflects their income. If you plan on purchasing an item and need more than 7 days to pay it off, please contact us before you bid/purchase. A non-refundable deposit may be required on longer payment plans. About Our eBay listings and Return Policy: We reserve the right to cancel any auctions on items which have sold through venues other than eBay since we list our items on multiple online venues. Population figures and price guide info change all the time, and while I try to give accurate numbers, updating the numbers when they change is just something that is simply not possible to do easily on static HTML pages that eBay requires to list using. Therefore, any population or pricing data should be used as simply a guide. Return Policy: Polaris Numismatics offers a no questions asked 7-day return policy. If you have any problems with the item you received, or if your spouse found out about that $10,000 coin you bought and sneered at you in disapproval (within 7 days of receiving the item of course), feel free to call me (1-972-746-9193) to arrange a refund and instructions on returning the numismatic item. Shipping Information: - (USPS Express Overnight Shipping on items over $500) We normally ship items via USPS Priority Mail ( valued under $500) or USPS Express Overnight ( valued over $500) mail but if you have a preferred shipping method other than the USPS, arrangements can be made to accommodate your shipping preferences. For items under $500 please add $5 for postage, packing and insurance, and for items over $500 please add $12 postage, packing and insurance. It actually costs about $21 per package to ship USPS Express so I'm not padding prices with shipping fees. I'm actually losing money on shipping. Yeah, $12 seems steep but consider the last time you filled up your gas tank. Things, they are a changin'. Coins and Collections: If you have high quality PCGS coins, NGC coins, CGA or CGC currency, we would be happy to sell them for you. We have considerable interest in outstanding naturally toned coins minted prior to 1936, MS68 and PR68 coins minted prior to 1936, Cameo coins (Cameo, Ultra Cameo and DCAM coins) minted before 1950, and premium, problem free and eye-catching early type coins minted before 1900. Consignments: I would be honored to help you sell your collection so long as it is valued at or over $500. I charge 15% of the sale price which covers my time, any expenses related to listing and shipping, and skills as a web developer, numismatic photographer, and cataloger. I guarantee that the items will be accurately described, imaged and sold for a fair market value to the absolute best of my abilities.
