P.Q. !  P.Q. !!  P.Q. !!!       This is a SCARCE 1853-d $1 LIBERTY Gold Dollar Type 1, certified by PCGS as MS-62 (Certification # 50159173). This is variety 5-G. An impressive example of this scarce Dahlonega Mint issue, this piece has partially reflective surfaces with rich green and orange-gold surfaces. The mintage of this date was a mere 6,583 coins, and only a fraction of those have survived. The 1853-D is particularly rare in Mint State. PCGS has certified 83 examples of this issue in all grades, but just 11 of those have been certified as MS60 or finer. Population: 2 in 62, 6 finer.
